What Are We Grateful For As We Enter 2026?
What a year this has been, and here we are not only surviving but hopefully thriving. We still wait anxiously about where Healthcare is headed for some. However, we know the work and who we serve in Hospice, Palliative Care and Home Health and what we must do as we enter 2026.
Hospice embraced and continues to implement The HOPE Tool, making that adjustment with their staff. Home Health, with their successful advocacy, managed to avoid a rather large, proposed reimbursement reduction. Still a small reduction came your way, however not what it could have been. I saw Palliative Care start to become something more agencies began to embrace.
What does this tell me about the great clients I serve? You are all dedicated and continue daily to provide the necessary care while facing challenges.
There continues to remain a passion for what we all are doing. Compassion, empathy and understanding, I hear everyday in the voices of your leadership and caregivers as you ask “Kathy, how can we make this happen” or “Kathy, do you know of any resources for this situation?”
The work you do is not easy. The responsibility you carry is not either. However, you all do it quite well and in case you do not hear it often enough, you are doing a great job and thank you!!
Each and every one of you is needed. Thank you all for sharing your agencies with me, for sharing why you are doing what you do, and why you started your agency. I have loved hearing all of it. For my clients who have trusted ALECC enough to have ridden this ride with me for quite some time, I am honored and look forward to 2026.
I am grateful that I get to enter 2026 with all of you, teaching, mentoring, speaking at conferences and creating agencies that I know will help so many others. Take this holiday season to reflect, rejuvenate, and think of all you have to be grateful for as you and your agencies enter 2026.
